Anna-Sophie Dreyer

improvising 5-string viola player - composer - teacher

ABOUT

Anna-Sophie Dreyer is an improvising viola player based in Stuttgart, Germany. She plays in various bands and projects in a wide variety of genres between jazz, folk, pop and classical.

Originally having classical roots, Anna-Sophie discovered the fascination of the world of improvising strings at the age of 17. Since then she has been searching for new sounds, techniques and roles in music with her 5-string instrument. She arranges and composes for her bands and passes on her joy of groove and creative use of music to her students.

Anna-Sophie studied Jazz & Pop Viola in the Netherlands (ArtEZ Arnhem, B.A.) and cultural management (M.A.) in Bremen, Germany.

She plays a Quinton by Peter Volkmer (Potsdam, Germany)

THE DUCK SIDE

… a grooving string trio - composing, arranging and improvising

THE DUCK SIDE have violin, viola, cello, mandolin and mandocello in their luggage and an almost bursting suitcase of versatile repertoire between folk, jazz and groove - all mixed with a pinch of good humor. Let yourself be infected by their musical wanderlust and let them take you across the Atlantic, to Romania, or to a Finnish island in the middle of nowhere.

Paul Bremen: violin, octave violine, viola, mandolin, vocals
Anna-Sophie Dreyer: 5-string viola, vocals
Veit Steinmann: 5-string cello, mandocello, vocals

Fräulein Tüpfeltaubes Tagebuch

… progressive chansons in German and French

As multifaceted as life itself; sometimes exuberant, sometimes melancholy; profoundly sophisticated, but with a wink. With each song, Fräulein Tüpfeltaube turns a new page in her diary. Introspective and self-ironic, she illuminates the ups and downs of all situations in life. Words and music combine in a sensually appealing interplay of poetry turned into sound. Innovative chansons from the pen of singer and flutist Sarah Horneber in a guise of creative pop music with influences from classical, jazz, rock and world music. Fräulein Tüpfeltaubes Tagebuch takes listeners on a journey that leads them back to nature and to themselves.

Sarah Horneber: vocals, flutes, piano
Anna-Sophie Dreyer: 5-string viola, backing vocals
Veit Steinmann: 5-string cello, mandocello, backing vocals
